White Light Gallery

In white light imaging, one views the solar Photosphere where sunspots appear as dark spots (umbra) surrounded by lighter areas (penumbra). These vary greatly in size and morphology changing as they migrate with solar rotation. Solar granules can be seen but, their resolution is limited by the objective lens diameter (Dawe’s limit). Larger diameter refractors can be very expensive thus, the need for a customized Newtonian de-aluminized reflectors as in our 8” Solar Newton.
